Arun Bhandari is the Technical Team Lead of FieldSight. He has been handling the technical development of the platform since the beginning of the project and continues his role of turning ideas into workable system features. His interests and experience have been in managing development of technological tools that are envisioned to be solutions to contextual problems. His three years of experience as a Co-Founder/CEO at NAXA (www.naxa.com.np), a private company working in digital mapping and geo-data management, has been in designing and developing mobile/web based applications for data collection, visualization and dissemination.
Arun pursued his Bachelors in Engineering, Geomatics Engineering from Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Kavre, Nepal. During his academic years, he got involved and led youth based social organizations and thus got a sense of how young minds can contribute in development. He is a Daayitwa Public Service Fellow and worked with Department of Education, Nepal Government in the National Educational Mapping Project. He pursued the course Engineering for Developing Communities, a joint initiative of Technion University, Israel and University of Colorado-Boulder in 2014. After founding NAXA in 2014, he has led dozens of technical development projects including FieldSight.
He is from Kavrepalanchowk district by origin and currently lives in Lalitpur. He is fluent in Nepali, English and Hindi, both written and spoken.
